Family Group

When the disease of addiction is present in the family it affects everyone around the individual. It comes through their lives like a tornado, ripping apart the feelings of all the individual’s loved ones. Sometimes this damage has been happening over a long period of time and there is a lot of anger, mistrust and burned bridges to work through. Family and friends cannot understand through logic why these people continue to hurt themselves almost to the point of death.
When an addiction affects an individual, it affects his family and friends as well. It is very important that all concerned parties understand this is a sickness that can be treated; and is treated at LifeChoices of San Jose every day. We have found that many issues of family discord can be resolved through education, rehabilitation, and group counseling.
We believe at LifeChoices residential treatment facility that our tremendous success is partially due to the work done in our family groups and alumni sessions. LifeChoices Treatment Services of San Jose works diligently to restore the family unit as part of our treatment program.
Here is a partial list of the program components:
• Individual sessions with the client and Life choices psychiatrist. These help to resolve problems and restore affection among the members of the family.
• Group discussions. These are held to enlighten and educate families in ways to avoid repeating past mistakes.
• Reading materials are supplied
• Individual sessions with the client and a psychiatrist. These help to resolve problems and restore affection among the members of the family.
• Referrals to other community resources. Families are also introduced to groups outside the center that can provide extra help in times of need and supplemental education on other factors.
Restoration of a normal life again is hard but not impossible; it happens every day at LifeChoices. LifeChoices of San Jose, Santa Clara County makes sure that the client and his family members get a second chance to achieve family harmony.
There is no better feeling than seeing the family unit restored, or moving in the direction of harmony
